Gay Urban Exploration in Bogotá Colombia by Tracey Parker

My name is Tracey Parker. I’m a middle aged gay American Male and I’ve been digital nomading after living in Mexico City, for 6 years.
I made two short trips to Bogotá and then based myself there for three months in 2025. Below are personal stories about some of my favorite gay bars, bathhouses, and other specifically gay places.
But for me the magic of Bogotá is hanging outside with the locals and living life at their pace. My Bogotá city guide features a handful of places that will truly allow you to get a taste of why the people of Bogotá, los rolos, love their city so much.
Tracey Parker’s Favorite Gay Bars in Bogotá Colombia
While I was in Bogota I visited 4 gay clubs, each of which gave me an appreciation of the one of a kind gay experience that takes place here.
Teatron

Number one, I’m sure you’ve heard of, is Teatron. This place comes alive after midnight and it was here where I got my first taste of what gay life is like in Bogotá. Walking through the 13 different themed rooms with my companion for the evening I found myself surprised at how similar and how different gay life was in this exotic high altitude metropolis, to what I was used to in the United States.
I’m not much of a late night person and once I get into a routine I would find a night out at Teatron to be very disruptive, so Teatron has become a welcome ritual for me and Colombia. I usually select flights that get me into Bogota in the late evening, go through migración, check into my hotel, settle in a bit, and then Uber to Teatron, after midnight, where the men are lined up and dressed to impress.
Each time I’ve been there the experience has been completely different. I always meet local men there whose local perspectives on their beloved city provide a wonderful context for me to experience the city myself.
El Mozo & Bar Chiquita

One night I attended an inauguration of an art exhibition and noticed a sharply dressed art student was subtly looking in my direction. I waited for him to make the first move but he stubbornly remained in my midst waiting for me to do the same. Before I knew it I had already asked him what he thought of the exhibition. We had some complimentary cocktails and cookies and then he suggested that I invite him to the Zona T, a famous hotspot for swanky nightlife in the north part of town.
I agreed immediately and 30 minutes later we were bar hopping between Chiquita and El Mozo. Both were stylish or gomelo, as they say in Bogotá. The people watching was to die for and if that wasn’t enough there were balconies with stunning views of the entire city. The drinks were very well priced and we had an amazing time maintaining our buzz with the cool wind blowing through our hair.
Leo’s Bar

The truth is that I’m traveling and I only brought one stylish outfit that I didn’t want to wear again in the Zona T. So I asked some new friends about a more low key establishment and they all agreed that Leos bar was the place I was looking for. Low key but impressive facility, this three story casual playground became a regular spot of mine. I liked it there so much I really didn’t find it necessary to look around for others.
Tracey Parker’s Favorite Gay Sauna/Bathhouses in Bogotá Colombia
The climate in Bogotá is otherworldly. It is called the land of eternal fall, but I feel this is somewhat inaccurate. It is colder than that. Fall is my favorite season in the United States, so I thought I would love the weather in Bogotá. But after three months there it began to feel like torture. It was either rainy and cloudy, or magnificently sunny. I can’t tell you how many times I saw the sun from my cold apartment and decided to go to the nearby park for a picnic. I’d walk over and even work up a sweat, only to settle down on my picnic blanket and instantly realize that despite the sunny cloudless sky, I should have dressed for winter.
But this weather is perfect for bathhouses. I’m seriously surprised that bathhouses are not a bigger part of the culture. They gay community has taken up the ritual very well tough and here are my three favorites.
Complices Spa

Complices Spa is packed on weekends but I prefer the low-key ambiance that is has during the week. There are far fewer people there but the same large proportion of hotties. Lots of college guys go here because there are several universities in located in the neighborhood.
Each night around 6ish, there is a show and the drag queen comes down from the bar into the basement sauna area and rounds up everybody for the show. It is always funny when this happens.
I recommend bringing a bathing suit or nice underwear to Complices. They don’t give you a towel to prance around in. Everybody is welcome to walk around naked but very few do.
The steam room is very frisky and in there everybody takes off their underwear and hangs it on their shoulder while playing around.
The club is very well designed and has many pool, jacuzzi, steam room, and maze features to discover and get lost in. Very nice place. Very well maintained.
Sauna Saint Moritz

Very well located clean modern minimalist sauna. I only went here once and I really loved the low key weekday vibe. The reason I didn’t go back was the massage situation. They have a few sexy massage therapists who creep around and look for clients. They are pretty aggressive and can become annoying. I went ahead and got a massage from a really handsome one and he ended up trying to charge me twice what he quoted me.
My Spanish is really good so I was able to stand my ground but this is the type of place where I go to relax, and having to stay on my toes to avoid getting scammed was enough to make me not come back despite a lingering curiosity to experience it again.
Dagoas Sauna Hostel

Dagoas is 24/7 which can be a big plus if that is what you’re used to. The other above mentioned gay saunas close between 9PM and midnight so be sure to check the hours. At Dagoas you don’t have to worry about the time, just go when you feel the desire.
Where to go in Bogota just to Hang Out?
Gay Urban Exploration is about much more than just Gay Bars and Clubs. I have put together a guide to my favorite parks, plazas, and local places to go to pass a relaxing afternoon.

Museums and Cultural Bogota

Bogota is way more than just the Museum of Gold, which honestly isn’t that great. It sounds cool so everybody goes, but the truth is that it is very underwhelming, just like most of the other things tourists are sent to to be honest.
My guide showcases my favorite museums as well as Casas de Cultura, or Cultural Houses, which are where the most cutting edge culture takes place in Bogota.
Bogota is home to a big literary scene and dozens of bookstores. Let me show you my favorites.
